Dance Ministry
Dance is a spiritual tool and has been used as a form of worship for thousands of years. Worship through dance is mentioned in the Bible several times and is significant part in church history. Dance can be used to interpret Bible stories and life experiences.
A Christian dancer dances for an audience of one. In other words, a Christian dancer dances for God and praises Him through the hand and body movements.
The Dance Ministry has established a dance training program and the rules and goals of the program are simple. Dancers must be willing to leave their pride at the door and to focus completely on worshipping God with each dance step. Body types, abilities, and training are not as important as the desire for spiritual growth and focus on God.
A person who has the heart and willingness to dance for the Lord can learn through faithful attendance at the rehearsals and trainings, although innate talent in dance is a plus factor. Usually the training program starts by warm up exercise, then the practice proper, and ends up in a Bible Study. Classical dance techniques like ballet and tambourine dance are taught in the training program. Even hip-hop dances are taught to glorify God.
The Dance Ministry meets at the Dance Room of Praise Cathedral every Saturday from 1PM to 5PM.
Dance Ministry is a great avenue where the art of movement can be used for spiritual growth and as an expression of worship to the Lord.
